Robert Ward Leeper was born on September 25, 1904 in Braddock, Pennsylvania as the second eldest of five children. Leeper graduated from Allegheny College in 1925 with plans to attend seminary school to become a minister. He decided to spend some time working in various jobs in order to understand the lives of others. Kurt Lewin is commonly recognized as the founder of social psychology. He was born in 1890 in the Village of Moglino in the Prussian province of Posen. Although completing the requirements for a PhD. in 1914, Lewin was not awarded the degree until 1916 from the University of Berlin.
